Church and Inter-faith Retreats
A very active, growing church was also actively splitting apart due to disputes about how to deal with a leader’s betrayal of trust and ethics. After a long period of organizational stress, church leaders were uncertain of how they should engage congregants (and each other) about the issues and how to separate their member role from their leader role when dealing with the congregation. I worked with a planning group to create and facilitate a retreat for leaders that brought them back to their core commitments of faith and practice. It also enabled them to translate their values into a shared commitment to respectful ways of engaging one another and a shared understanding of how to work with congregants when they raised concerns. Ultimately, the frayed fabric of congregational life was re-woven and the church moved forward.
